Landscape architecture is an urban profession, essential to city building, says Stantec’s principal Donna Walcavage, FASLA, LEED AP. On that score, she has never wavered. With a crusader’s zeal and artist’s vision, Donna has been composing vital public spaces throughout metro New York for more than five decades.
On November 9, 2017, Walcavage’s contributions to the profession were recognized with the President’s Award for Design Excellence in the Public Realm, from the American Society of Landscape Architects – New York Chapter.
“Donna’s ability to meld art, infrastructure and human experience exemplifies our mission as a global landscape architecture and urban design practice,” says Stantec Vice President, Community Development, Gary Sorge. “We’re so proud of Donna for this well-deserved recognition.”
The ASLA-NY also honored Daniel Zarrilli, PE, Senior Director of Climate Policy and Programs and Chief Resilience Officer for New York City Office of Mayor. Zarrilli received the President’s Award for Service and Leadership.
“No one ever wants to feel isolated, which can happen in every major city. Social interaction is what cities are all about- using the public realm to create community is not only our firm’s goal but the real basis of urbanism.”- Donna Walcavage
