The Building Owners and Managers Association of Greater New York’s (BOMA New York) Technology Committee is pleased to announce it successfully hosted the first program in its new series, Tech Bytes earlier this month. For this program, BOMA New York hosted FST Biometrics America. The Tech Bytes series was designed to inform and educate building owners and property managers on the latest technological tools and advancements.
“IMID stands for in-motion identification, unlike existing access systems, it utilizes facial recognition technology to identify individuals based on who they are versus the credentials they carry,” said FST Biometrics America CEO Yaron Zussman as he opened the program. “Unlike other facial recognition programs, IMID uses only software. This makes it easier to integrate with a building’s existing access control programs. Most other biometrics products use hardware, making it less efficient and more challenging to integrate.”
During a demonstration, attendees saw first-hand how the IMID identified who should be granted access to the Vornado building where the program was held. For building owners and managers, IMID technology allows them to know exactly who enters their properties, versus who swipes in with an access card. Looking ahead, IMID is the future of access control and security in both residential and corporate buildings.
Upcoming Tech Bytes programs will feature topics of interest to BOMA/NY owner and manager members from BOMA/NY Allied and Professional members.
