James E. Fitzgerald, Inc. Completes The Schroeder Building’s First Ever Lobby Renovation

James E. Fitzgerald, Inc. has completed the full lobby renovation of Wolfson Group’s 33-story 769,867-SF commercial office building at One State Street Plaza near New York City’s Battery Park. This was the building’s first lobby renovation since it was originally constructed in 1970.

Project Scope

The construction included a full demolition of an existing lobby and removal of the store front, transforming the space into a high-end 7,200-SF lobby with travertine walls, marble floors, and exterior granite pavers. The lobby maintains its 20-foot-high ceilings – the equivalent of two stories – which is emphasized through the 20-foot structural glass façade.

James E. Fitzgerald, Inc. also coordinated the installation of state of the art turnstiles for increased security and a combination of stone wall panels with back-painted glass throughout the three elevator banks. The elevator banks remained active throughout the entire construction process.

Technologically-Savvy Lobby Desk and Feature Wall

James E. Fitzgerald, Inc. worked with a Canadian-based specialty millwork manufacturer to fabricate a modern custom-made reception desk for the building lobby that consolidates all building functions into one command center. The desk, which is 20 feet long and six feet deep, incorporates all elevator controls, security functions, and the fire alarm control system for the entire building.

Directly behind the reception desk is a notable feature wall including a variety of geometrical shapes constructed with acrylic panels in a lightweight aluminum framing system. The feature wall contains an LED lighting system with integrated controls that enable the shapes to change colors. James E Fitzgerald, Inc. worked closely with Perkins Eastman, the architect for this project, to execute the high-end details that make this project a success.

Building Tenants

Current building tenants include Continental Stock Transfer & Trust, Simcorp, Ironshore Insurance, T3 Capital, Global Knowledge, Telx Group, Source Media, Integro Insurance Brokers, and AMBAC Financial Group.
