SWC’s Eastern Director Michael Cohen joins NYC Councilmember Deutsch and other Elected and Community Officials at Stop The Hate Rally in Brooklyn, NY
The Simon Wiesenthal Center wants to thank NYC Councilmember Chaim Deutsch for his leadership in the wake of this past weeks multiple hate crimes in Brooklyn and Queens, and inviting SWC to co-sponsor the Stop The Hate press conference at James Madison High School in Brooklyn yesterday.
The press conference was highlighted by Councilmember Deutsch ensuring that it be led by our next generation leadership. SWC is extremely proud of Sara Vasevnick, a 2018 graduate of the SWC Government Advocacy Internship Program as being the individual selected by Councilmember Deutsch to be the master of ceremonies and lead a host of community leaders and elected officials who lent their voices to stopping hate.
SWC Eastern Director Michael stood alongside two distinguished and longtime members of the NYPD Commissioners Liaison Unit, Det. Dominick Scotto and Det. Adam Berish, having the opportunity to thank these incredible individuals, long known for their dedication to protecting the Jewish community and all New Yorkers from hate crimes.
SWC Eastern Director Michael Cohen expressed appreciation to all of the elected officials who stood up at the press conference yesterday and made their positions against stereotyping, bias, discrimination, and anti-Semitism known including NYC Councilmember Laurie Cumbo, and NYS Assembly member Diana Richardson.
