475 Clermont, the new 12-story luxury rental building in Brooklyn, recently celebrated summer with light bites from a variety of local outposts.

Located at the intersection of Brooklyn’s burgeoning Fort Greene and Clinton Hill neighborhoods, the building features a collection of 363 homes. Developed by RXR Realty and designed by New York-based Aufgang Architects with interiors by Durukan Design, 475 Clermont reflects the character of the surrounding Brooklyn neighborhood and offers exceptional quality in its thoughtfully designed homes and common areas.

475 Clermont offers residents an elevated lifestyle experience through its amenities, including a 24-hour attended lobby, landscaped courtyard; business center; indoor/outdoor children’s playroom; indoor/outdoor fitness center; yoga studio; pet spa and rooftop terrace and lounge featuring an outdoor movie screen, grilling stations, dining areas, catering kitchens, bocce court, and game tables. Private resident storage, bike storage and onsite parking will also be available.

RXR Realty’s emphasis on culture and creativity for residents is apparent throughout the entire building, which, features a custom Mr. Brainwash neon artwork piece in the lobby as well as a 90-foot tall mural in the courtyard, by San Francisco based muralist Mona Caron.

The summer soiree featured an array of light fare from Brooklyn favorites, embracing the friendly feel of the neighborhood. Guests, which included NYC brokers, enjoyed donuts from Dough Donut Shop, known for their iconic pink hibiscus donuts, pastries and coffee from the famous NYC coffee shop Hungry Ghost, and delicious bite-size appetizers from casual local Italian eatery Speedy Romeo.

The building is also now home to a 90-foot tall mural by Swiss-born and San-Francisco based muralist Mona Caron and it’s her first project in NYC. Caron is known for her community-specific and multi-story murals celebrating the rebellious resilience of spontaneous urban flora, including giant murals of tiny plants found growing through the pavement at each specific location.

For the mural at 475 Clermont, she wanted to depict a plant that can be called anything but a weed. Caron worked closely with the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s curator of native plans and the NYC Greenbelt Native Plant Center on Staten Island to choose a wildflower native to the specific original landscape of the Fort Greene area — The Cohosh (Cimifuga racemosa) — which is a medicinal plant used by Native Americans. The mural within the building’s courtyard, only seen from the homes of residents, called for a more introspective botanical subject and to take that to next level, RXR also worked with horticulturalists from Blue Plant NYC that picked up the theme within the landscaping so that this chosen symbolic centerpiece plant may be experienced by residents with touch and smell as well.
