The sale of 5 Arlington Place in Bedford-Stuyvesant for $3.6 million has set a new townhouse record for the neighborhood, announced Nadine Adamson of Brown Harris Stevens.

Adamson and Kelsey Hall of Brown Harris Stevens represented the seller of the four-story, 3,600-square-foot Renaissance Revival style brownstone built in 1887. The previous record was held by 1 Verona Place, which sold for $3.25 million in 2017.

Designed by George P. Chappell, one of the borough’s finest 19th-century architects, 5 Arlington Place features a five-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom upper triplex, and one-bedroom garden apartment below.

“This exquisite home was recently restored from top to bottom to maximize every modern convenience while preserving its extensive original interior and exterior details including fully restored period stained glass,” Adamson said.

Other original details of 5 Arlington Place include a restored and rebuilt central staircase, plasterwork and beams, doors, window casings and fretwork, as well as six original fireplaces mantles.

A newly designed chef’s kitchen includes extensive custom cabinetry and multiple seating areas, a six burner Wolf range, an expansive kitchen island and room for a large dining table, as well as a custom glass door leading to a back terrace and private landscaped garden. Additional amenities include central air conditioning, a full basement, and a fully furnished roof deck.

The luxurious master suite is comprised of a full-width bedroom with a working gas fireplace, and a 10-foot by 9-foot double walk-in closet. The ensuite five-fixture master bathroom encompasses a freestanding two-person tub and radiant floor heating.

On the third floor are three additional bedrooms with 11-foot ceiling heights, picturesque exposed original beams, two full baths, and a laundry room. Finally, the fourth floor contains a newly built staircase, which leads to the roof deck with breathtaking views of Manhattan and the Brooklyn skyline.
