Philanthropists Jean and Martin Shafiroff were honored at the Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s 61st Annual Summer Party under air-conditioned tents in the fields at Wickapogue Road and Old Town Road, Southampton. This year’s event was an evening of cocktails, dinner and dancing to benefit the Jenny and John Paulson Emergency Department.
The Shafiroffs are longtime supporters of Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, and Jean serves on the Southampton Hospital Association Board. Jean chaired the Southampton Hospital Summer Party’s in 2010, 2011 and 2013 when a total of $5.4 million was raised for the Hospital.
Larry Scott of Lawrence Scott Events provided the ambiance and food, with music by Groove Society. Larry Scott’s floral décor was inspired by Jean Shafiroff’s elegant style and glamorous gowns. This year’s party was emceed by Chuck Scarborough, lead news anchor at WNBC.
The Summer Party is one of the largest fundraising events in the Hamptons, and this year, it raised over $1.5 million. Over 700 benefactors attended in support of the Jenny & John Paulson Emergency Department, which is the first Level III Trauma Center on the East End and services the community 24/7, year-round. In 2018, the ED had over 21,900 visitors, with almost half those visits occurring during Memorial Day through Labor Day.
