The New York City TV Festival hosted a screening and question-and-answer session of indie film queen, Janel Tanna’s latest short film, “Intervention,” at the Dolby Screening Room in New York City.
During the New York City TV Festival’s award ceremony, Janel Tanna accepted awards presented by R. Couri Hay for “Best Actress” and “Best Short Film” for her performance in Intervention. The 14 minutes and 50-second-long film premiered over the summer during the East Hampton TV festival. The film has also been grateful to receive several accolades to date, and has also screened in Hollywood, Arizona, and New Jersey early in this festival season.
“Intervention” looks at addiction and mental health in an artistic and deep way. These are two very important topics that Janel would like to raise awareness for as she is currently studying to be a psychiatrist. She hopes to reach others and make them reflect on the topics though her performance. Janel took this role as a chance to let viewers into the depths of the character’s soul, demonstrating both vulnerability and strength.
During the Q&A session following the screening, Janel Tanna stated that, “[She’s] been lucky on several projects to work with some amazing and more experienced actors than [herself], which makes it much easier to be in the truth. For [Janel], the best acting comes when [she] don’t feel a hint of acting.”
Notables included Steve Stanulis, R. Couri Hay, Designer Aya Islamova, Roberto Rizzo, Caroline Johnson, Jean Shafiroff, Dr. Sharyn Lewin and Sofia Symonds.
