Equestrian Excitement

As the summer winds down, the big event to help launch fall is none other than The Hampton Classic Horse Show. Considered one of the country’s most prestigious hunter-jumper horse shows, it is set to return August 29 to September 5. The 45th edition of the Classic is ready to welcome back the nation’s best horses and riders who will compete for prestigious titles and more than $800,000 in prize money. The world-class event showcases more than 1,500 horses competing in 200 hunter, jumper and equitation classes.

On September 12, join another great day of equestrian activity with the Greenwich Polo Club match. The afternoon will feature the East Coast Open Final. Nestled in the beautiful backcountry of Connecticut, Greenwich Polo Club was established in 1981 and is recognized as one of the elite high-goal polo venues on the planet. Young entrepreneurs, artists and well-known personalities are all part of the crowd dynamic, which makes a day on the grounds full of incredible and sophisticated energy.

Celebrate the great outdoors of New York State at the 39th annual Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF) Golf Tournament. On September 13, the event will be hosted at Fresh Meadow Country Club in Lake Success, New York. Hit the green and help raise funds to benefit SWCRF and its mission to work toward eradicating cancer by funding collaborative cross-institutional research to identify and correct abnormal gene function that causes cancer.

Golf lovers can also enjoy the 23rd Annual Ann Liguori Foundation Charity Golf Classic. The event will benefit cancer research and will be held September 16 at the prestigious Maidstone Club in East Hampton, New York. The Ann Liguori Foundation raises funds and awareness for cancer research and care. Ann Liguori lost her father to cancer when she was in college, as well as her brother Jim to leukemia when he was only 22 years old. Ever since, she has been devoted to raising money and awareness for these causes.

Art to Heart

For art lovers, there is plenty of enjoyment found in the Hamptons. The A is for Art Gallery is a perfect place to experience design and paintings. Modern American artist and designer Walter Sternlieb opened one of the Hamptons’ hottest new galleries this summer and is part of the village’s strong legacy of curated collaborations in the community. A is for Art Gallery brings to life the prolific vision of Sternlieb, who is known out east as a respectful designer, builder, woodworker and master craftsman. Now, his latest title as industrial artist will only further plant his applaudable achievements.

Also found in Southampton is Tethys Art. The East End’s latest art house is creating a buzz around its ambitious curatorial vision. Even more fantastic art can be discovered during the Hamptons International Film Festival. Considered the premiere film event on New York State’s East End, it offers an intimate showcase of some of the year’s best offerings in contemporary cinema from around the world. The 29th annual HIFF will take place from October 7 to October 13.  The organization was founded in 1992 to celebrate the art of film and to introduce a unique and varied spectrum of international films and filmmakers.
