In honor of National Caregivers Appreciation Day, New York Fashion designer Frederick Anderson hosted a fashion show and luncheon at the Prince George Ballroom in New York City to celebrate the work that CaringKind does to support Alzheimer’s caregivers. CaringKind is New York City’s leading expert on Alzheimer’s and dementia caregiving.
At the event, Frederick Anderson presented a fashion show for guests to showcase his latest line. Anderson also paid tribute to his sister, who is caregiver to his mother who suffers with Alzheimer’s. Among those who attended the event were venture capital pioneer Alan Patricof, who cared for his wife for more than 12 years as she suffered with Alzheimer’s disease. Other notables at the event included Julia Haart, Valesca Guerrand Hermes, Nicole Miller, Barbara Guggenheim, Anna Gabriel, Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin, Council Member Erik Bottcher, Seth Herzog, Grimanesa Amoros, Ann Colley, Andrea Greeven Douzet, Bonnie Pfeifer Evans, Louis Finley, Veronique Gabai, Maryanne Grisz, Gigi Howard, Erica Karsch and Alexadra Lebenthal.
“It was a day where the fashion and healthcare industries came together to bring awareness and support to family caregivers who are impacted by Alzheimer’s Disease. Caregivers who are assisting loved ones with Alzheimer’s Disease are more likely to struggle with their own healthcare issues and we therefore need to uplift them, recognize them and show support for the struggles they endure every day,” said Eleonora Tornatore-Mikesh, CEO of CaringKind. The flowers at the event were provided by The Watermark and were arranged by their residents. Other sponsors included Aran Wine, Chance TV, photographer Jean Pompei, Coterie, Renewal Memory Partners, Tastings NYC, Juice Press, Deborah Hughes Inc., and PURIST.
