First came newly built branded residences, and now iconic historic hotels are transforming into billion-dollar developments. Preserving their illustrious heritage while introducing luxury residential to their property for the first time, developments are providing a new way for homeowners to feel like they’re living on a constant vacation.

In Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Pier Sixty-Six has been celebrated as a hospitality icon for more than 50 years. The historic site began as a fuel dock for Phillips 66 Petroleum in the 1950s along the famed Intracoastal Waterway, where eventually a world-class marina was created in the “Yachting Capital of the World.” In the 1960s, the resort complex and iconic spire-topped tower were built, forever changing Fort Lauderdale’s skyline and drawing celebrities, civic leaders, Fort Lauderdale society and visitors worldwide.

Now, Pier Sixty-Six is set to unveil its highly anticipated $1 billion renovation this fall with the destination’s first residential address, Pier Sixty-Six Residences. Nestled on 32 waterfront acres along Fort Lauderdale’s Intracoastal Waterway, the new Pier Sixty-Six will encompass a renovated world-class resort with 325 guestrooms, 12 dining and lounge destinations, a marina promenade home to a curated mix of restaurants, retailers and offices. It’s crown-jewel, Pier Sixty-Six Marina, is one of the largest super yacht marinas on the eastern seaboard with 5,000 linear feet of dockage and 164 slips able to moor boats from 40 feet to 400 feet. Just moments from the Atlantic Ocean, the marina also connects to Fort Lauderdale’s 300 miles of inland waterways and continues to attract the most prestigious vessels around the world.

Architecture and Design
Led by world-class architects including HKS Architects, NELSON Worldwide and Garcia Stromberg, Pier Sixty-Six is ensuring the historic integrity of the original building constructed in the late 1960s by reinvigorating an iconic façade with a mid-century modern design that blends into the elements of a present-day subtropical location.

Residences
Pier Sixty-Six Residences includes an exclusive collection of just 92 exquisite units across three boutique buildings, each with a distinct design personality. The Azul Residences are inspired by the organic flow of coral reefs with sweeping curved terraces overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway, the marina, and the city skyline visible from a private heated plunge pool on every balcony. The dramatic 11-floor waterfront building features four designer-ready corner residences on each floor with 10-foot ceilings, chef-inspired kitchens featuring custom Italian cabinetry, luxurious bathrooms with custom Italian wooden cabinetry and private elevator access from the elegant residential lobby.

The Residences at Pier Sixty-Six will feature one, 11-story condominium building with a limited collection of only 31 luxury homes ranging from 2,700 to 2,800 square feet and two, four-story resort residence buildings with a combined 31 luxury units ranging from 1,600 to 3,800 square feet. Designed by Garcia Stromberg, the waterfront residences will anchor a new Marina Promenade that will feature restaurants, shops and offices.

Most recently Pier Sixty-Six introduced its newest collection, Indigo, embracing its marine setting with floor-to-ceiling windows framing striking views and creating seamless indoor/outdoor living. This 11-story building offers a selection of four distinct on-concept floorplans, each spanning approximately 2,900 square feet and featuring three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. In addition, a stunning 5,824-square-foot penthouse boasts unrivaled panoramic vistas of the downtown skyline, Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. Each unit is designer-ready, allowing for absolute owner customization and affords fine finishes such as Sub-Zero/Wolf appliances, Italian cabinets and exquisite stone surfaces.

Resort-Style Living
Beyond the luxurious enclaves of each residence, owners have access to the iconic Pier Sixty-Six Resort for an unmatched resort lifestyle from its three-level swimming pool to the introduction of a 15,000-square-foot spa and marina promenade. Reflective of its marine lifestyle, Pier Sixty-Six will introduce 12 culinary venues inclusive of signature restaurants along the waterfront promenade with creations inspired by the coastal city and its finest seasonal ingredients. Each menu will be crafted by culinary experts, who transform guests’ preferences into bespoke gastronomic experiences that pair flawlessly with world-class wines and cocktails from the greatest mixology minds in South Florida. Most notable will be the restoration of the iconic rotating Pier Top lounge, admired for decades for being the only 17th-floor observation deck showing 360-degree panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, Intracoastal Waterway and Downtown Fort Lauderdale. The glamorous social bar and lounge will come to life with bird’s eye sights while guests enjoy expertly crafted cocktails in an energetic and lively setting.
