This NYFW, Emma Gage presented the AW24 collection for Melke at Gary’s Loft, as listed on the official Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) calendar.

The collection, entitled “The Heist,” draws inspiration from Gage’s favorite childhood movie characters, Wallace and Gromit. The collection consists of 20 unique looks, all sustainably made here in NYC. Emma, the founder and designer of the brand, opted to showcase her collection in an interactive, walk-through style presentation complete with a full scavenger hunt! Guests were given a map upon entry and then were instructed to different vignettes where they could interact with models, feel the garments and get up close and personal with each look. The presentation style was lauded as a fun and exciting experience amid the craziness of fashion week.

Melke’s autumn/winter 2024 collection looks into the beloved claymation series Wallace and Gromit. Leaning into Melke’s carefree joy and childlike wonder, The Heist is inspired by the mischievous adventures that Wallace and Gromit often find themselves in. From traveling to the moon for cheese, stealing a diamond and fighting a gigantic wererabbit, it seems this duo has done it all. Yet at the end of the day, they always return to the comforts of home for a hot cup of tea and a delectable slice of cheese.

Around 80% of the collection used deadstock materials. The remainder were our custom prints which used organic materials and limited water consumption, and handwoven cotton khadi from a fair-trade supplier. The custom shoelaces were made from remnants of lining materials, and we sourced all trims from the garment district to support local small businesses.
