Welcoming young and old, the Marbella Club Hotel is sure to please even the most discerning of travelers. The Destination Designer Team recently returned from an October visit and must confess, it was difficult to leave. Given the area’s microclimate and warm breezes, fall and spring stays are particularly enjoyable, especially with the fewer crowds found at this time of year. We were greeted by an attentive and friendly staff and a fun welcome drink upon our arrival. The main house is a welcoming and serene retreat after a long day of travel, and after an easy check-in, we were quickly whisked away to our room.
The hotel delivers a variety of accommodation options ranging from quiet garden view rooms, oceanfront suites, cottages, and villas, some even offering a private swimming pool. No matter your selection, each room is beautifully updated, well-appointed, generously sized, and impeccably decorated in soothing coastal hues. We recommend choosing a room near the sea, particularly the Deluxe Seaview Rooms, conveniently located close to the beach club, gym, and wellness center. These rooms have spacious terraces or balconies perfect for your morning coffee or evening sip of wine. The Garden Suite Deluxe room is an excellent option if more space is needed. Depending on the size of your group, the staff can easily assist with ensuring the right room choice. For families, it is particularly nice that the hotel has connecting room availability.
Marbella Club is not simply a beachfront resort. It is a playground for all ages, and offers so many activities it is hard to keep track of them. From an expansive selection of wellness activities, group fitness, spa services, watersports, golf, tennis, and hiking, to name a few. If there is an activity you are interested in, check in with the concierge, and they will do their best to accommodate you. During our stay, we enjoyed the large gym with on-site, helpful staff, relaxed by the pool, and took advantage of the Marbella Golden Mile, a pristine path stretching the seaside from Marbella’s old town to glamorous Puerto Banús.
Be sure to visit the old town and explore the cathedral, charming squares, and beach promenade. For upmarket shopping, Marbella Club offers designer and locally curated shops both on-site and nearby. For those interested in art and history, a trip to nearby Malaga and a stop at the Picasso Museum, the historic city of Ronda with views of the Strait of Gibraltar and the African coastline, or Gibraltar with its rich history and tourist attractions, can all be arranged.
Marbella also boasts world-class restaurants and locally owned cafes offering authentic Andalusian cuisine. The hotel has many options, and we found some of our best meals on the property. Buzzy MC Beach is a great lunch spot, serving fresh seafood and a front-row sea view. El Patio showcases Mediterranean fare, is meticulously designed, and is pretty day and night. For wine enthusiasts, La Bodega has a vast selection of local wines and family-run vineyards, and reserving a private tasting with their on-site sommelier is possible. For dinner, The Grill serves up white table dining cast in a candle-lit glow. Bohemian Rudi’s Lounge is a fun and unique choice for late-night festivities or enjoy the live entertainment offered on most nights of the week in the bar. Particularly on Monday nights when the bar is abuzz with a melodic duo singing tunes reminiscent of the rat-pack era.
