The Los Angeles Design Festival (LADF) returned to Row DTLA for its third year. This year’s extensive schedule included over 80 events over four days, many of which were hosted at Row DTLA in partnership with Row tenants.
Already home to a collection of murals, art installations, and architecturally distinctive plazas, Row DTLA’s historic roots have been reimagined into an urban enclave for some of LA’s top creatives and artists making it the perfect destination for an iconic event like LADF. This year, the 30-acre campus will host an array of public design installations, design conversations, and creative exhibitions.
LADF has engaged with Row DTLA’s curated collective of brands, retailers, and design entrepreneurs, pairing them with some of LA’s most cutting-edge designers and artists. Many of the shops and spaces featured in-store design collaborations, innovative installations, unique retail opportunities, and more.
LA Design Festival kicked off the 9th annual festivities with a public design block party in the streets of Row DTLA with beats by dublab, site-specific dance performance by MashUp Contemporary Dance Company, live music by WINSTON HOUSE, desserts by My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream, and drinks by Flying Embers, Madre Mezcal, Seedlip, and Whispering Angel.
Special exhibitions included: ON THE EDGE—a group show featuring work by the 2019 EDGE Award recipients—Epicene Gallery curated by Meyghan Hill and Uri Davillier, a pop-up bookstore by Archinect, a Color Experience by Dunn Edwards x Caroline Geys, and public design installations by Architecture Office, Dreamland Creative Projects, Ghatit Studio, Oasys, OWIU, MADWORKSHOP, and Some People. Outdoor summer lounges by Seedlip, Bend Goods, and Tidelli.
LA Design Festival goers also enjoyed sips and bites of Row DTLA’s latest culinary concepts, such as The Manufactory LA and Pikunico, or time-honored favorites such as Rappahannock Oyster Bar and Paramount Coffee Project.
