Watch brand Hublot has released a collection with artist Richard Orlinski in preparation for the holiday shopping season.
Orlinski is known for brightly-colored, Pop Art-style, multifaceted beasts – from his immense “Wild Kong” gorilla sculpture on the Croisette in Cannes and his crocodiles in the sunshine of the Miami Design District to his 5-metre-tall bear on the snowy pistes of Courchevel. As one who appreciates exceptional expertise, the artist has designed a watch on the frontier of vintage and neo-futurist styles, just like his works inspired by the Pop Art movement.
The faceted case and dial signature of the Classic Fusion Orlinski are emphasized against a backdrop of white, transforming an elegant piece into a contemporary work of art. Pavé detailing highlight the facets adding depth and dimension while the rubber straps stay true to the brand’s principle, combining the worlds of art and watchmaking, precious metals and rubber, contemporary art and luxury.
“The fusion of our two universes – that of Hublot who takes precious materials to create exceptional products, and my own bright world of color inspired by Pop Art – came about quite spontaneously, almost naturally,” Orlinski said.
