Seen & Noted: NYC’s Best Finds for June/July

New York City might not actually be that large in size, but its abundance of culture, couture and cuisine can make it feel like there’s a lot of ground to cover. And sifting through it all can be quite daunting. But don’t worry, we did that all for you and found some of the best things NYC has to offer this month.

The Ross Art Group

Flashbacks of your college dorm room are sure to arise when you step into the Ross Art Group gallery on Madison Avenue. The professionalized rendition adds a little more style to an original collection of vintage posters. With everything from comic book covers to original Budweiser ads, the gallery boasts 120 years of images. And unlike its walking-distance neighbor, the MoMA, you can actually take the artwork home with you to add a vintage touch to your home space; framing, delivery and installation included.

Located at 532 Madison Ave., fourth floor, Mon-Fri 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Sat 10 a.m.–5 p.m. (rossartgroup.com)

Empire Diner

The iconic Chelsea diner, featured in everything from Woody Allen’s Manhattan to the opening credits of Saturday Night Live, is making its next big move. Known for its frequent shift in ownership, the diner’s now chef John DeLucie (who took on the iconic space from Food Network star Amanda Freitag) is serving up classic American cuisine in the corner dig, including a double-patty burger with herbed french fries and macaroni and cheese with parmesan bread crumbs.

Brooklyn Boulders

Ever have the urge to mount the Brooklyn Bridge? Well, now you can (but in a safer way). Located in downtown Brooklyn, Brooklyn Boulders replicated the Brooklyn Bridge in their facilities to allow the daredevil in all of us to come out and play. Ascend the 30-foot replica or sign up with a personal trainer, as the Brooklyn Boulders facilities are home to both a full gym and climbing walls.

Group exercise classes are included with a day pass and membership. Members get additional discounts on climbing classes. Group exercise classes are 60 minutes unless otherwise noted. Please arrive early to find a space in class. Yoga mats are available for rent at the front desk.

King’s County Distillery Tour

Whiskey fanatics rejoice! Follow an expert on the King’s County Distillery Tour and learn how New York’s oldest distillery produces its classic craft sipping whiskeys. From chocolate infused whiskey to strawberry-ginger moonshine, the end-of-the-tour tasting is sure to have you leaving in high spirits.

The Flower Shop

Step into the 70s at this groovy Lower East Side restaurant complete with bright-yellow booths and wood-paneled walls. With a bi-level set up, down a cold-brew infused vodka martini and fried chicken with curry dipping sauce before heading downstairs to hang with the “cool kids” and get a couple rounds of pool in or snag a photo in front of the bubblegum-pink fireplace.
