Premier NYC real estate firm Metro Loft unveiled an outdoor mural from renowned photographer Gray Malin on the rooftop at 180 Water, a new rental tower in the Financial District.
Gray Malin is an American fine art photographer who specializes in aerial views of beaches and water.
“Gray’s impressive body of work and stylistic approach are ultimately what led to our interest in collaborating with him for our mural,” said Mitchell Wasser, Metro Loft’s director of Leasing and Marketing. “When selecting the artwork, the goal was to elevate the visual experience of the surrounding rooftop amenities and penthouses.”
The mural, an enlarged Gray Malin photo named “Out of Office,” measures 56 feet high by 39.6 feet wide, and is displayed near the outdoor pool on 180 Water’s 29th floor.
Inspired by the Mediterranean glamour of the 1960s, the mural depicts white-and-yellow-striped inner tubes on the sea. Shot on location along the coast of Spain, this image represents a modern take on retro-chic living. The mural’s custom neon inner tubes designed by Gray emit a twenty-first-century feel to an otherwise retro overarching theme.
