Internationally-acclaimed Interior Designer Channels Hip Hotel Vibe with Vintage-Style Amenity Spaces at Luxe FiDi Development, 29 Cliff Street
Award-winning interior designer Andres Escobar has created a series of art gallery and hospitality-inspired amenity areas for Exhibit at 60 Fulton, the new, 23-story luxury rental development in the Financial District at 29 Cliff Street, on the corner of Fulton Street. With a theme that visually alludes to the downtown art and music scenes of the 1970s and 1980s, Escobar’s work graces the main lobby, hallways, and a full-floor penthouse level with three separate amenity spaces surrounded by a massive outdoor terrace.
“I designed Exhibit’s interiors in ways that instantly evoke the City’s recent past,” points out Escobar. “The wood and brick details in the main lobby suggest the original Fulton market, including a vintage barn door behind the front desk. The amenities in the penthouse are relaxed and familiar. Some feel like an extension of one’s living room, while others are more like those in an exclusive, private club.”
Throughout the public spaces at Exhibit, Escobar has placed photographic art. Curated by Jody Britt, there are images of such iconic artists and musicians as Jimi Hendrix, The Ramones, Blondie, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Among the world-class photographers whose work will be shown in revolving exhibits are Allan Tannenbaum, Marc Weiss, Ricky Powell and David Godlis.
“Collaborating with someone as talented as Andres is always a pleasure. When you give a designer of his caliber latitude to be as creative as he wants, the results are remarkable. We are thrilled with the design,” said Co-Developer Scott Aaron of Socius Development Group.
Two of the Escobar-designed penthouse amenity areas include The Parlor with a clubby ambiance underscored by billiards and poker tables, private wine storage, and furniture by Jimmie Martin of London; and The Lounge, a place to unwind on plush sofas facing a grand fireplace. Both spaces have walls of 24-foot, floor-to-ceiling windows. Additionally, at the penthouse level is the Residents Dining Club with a demonstration kitchen, a private dining room, and a separate outdoor terrace. Surrounding these amenity spaces is a dramatic, landscaped terrace with fireplace, screening area, and contemporary furnishings, highlighted by gorgeous 360-degree views of lower and upper Manhattan, One World Trade Center, South Street Seaport, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Empire State Building, and New Jersey.
“The penthouse areas, which reflect a work-live-and-play ethos, are especially geared to inspiring connectivity and camaraderie among the residents,” continued Escobar.
A curated design aesthetic also extends to the 120 studio-, one-, and two-bedroom apartments. The one-bedroom residences offer gracious layouts, including several with separate home office alcoves. Spacious split two-bedroom apartments feature en-suite bathrooms and exceptional closet space. More than 70 percent of the apartments have private terraces or balconies.
Exhibit at Fulton’s kitchens offer rustic Italian cabinetry by Stevali, stone countertops, glass backsplashes, LED under-counter lighting, and stainless-steel appliances.
Moreover, all the residences benefit from sustainable hypoallergenic wood floors, individually controlled heating and air conditioning systems, and custom closet interiors; and the one- and two-bedroom homes have in-unit Bosch washer and dryers.
Located less than two blocks from the Fulton Street transportation hub and the South Street Seaport, the residences offer open views with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Manhattan cityscapes, bridges, rivers and beyond.
Lower level amenity spaces at Exhibit at 60 Fulton include a fitness center equipped with Peloton Spin Cycle stations and private yoga room. The building also has bike storage, a laundry room and private resident storage.
