City Proposal To Revamp Gowanus Released

The City finally released a proposal to revamp Gowanus and, in turn, encourage more residential development in the area. Officials hope that the rezoning will allow the mandatory inclusionary housing program to be applicable in the area, as originally reported by Politico.

The proposal plans to upzone Fourth Avenue, and will consider improvement opportunities at the Gowanus Houses, Wyckoff Gardens, and Warren Street Houses.

Critics noted that funding for the New York City Housing Authority was not mentioned in the proposal. Plans to start the rezone are expected next winter.
